Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs introduced a continuous video surveillance system across 78 correctional facilities nationwide. The project improved the overall safety and efficiency of penitentiary institutions and positively impacted the work and behavior of employees by preventing instances of bribery and the violation of inmate rights. Technology capabilities were combined with process change, officer training, and communication to improve the physical, psychological, and social conditions of inmates and ensure officer safety.
